A Brief Glimpse Into Prince William County Life

As a small example of life in Prince William County, VA: Last weekend (I always think of the weekend as beginning on Friday evening) our son went to his school dance. He had an awesome time..."even better than the last dance!" After getting up on Saturday morning, the Grandmas both joined us to head to Nokesville for Brunswick Stew Day. This is an annual event...Brunswick Stew is cooked over open fire in Cauldrons...yep, the vary ones you're thinking of! It cooks for hours and all the locals stand in line for this delectable treat. It's actually one of our son's top 5 favorite foods! Home made goodies are sold in conjunction with the stew, and it's a really fun event. We all then arrived home for lots of family time in front of the cozy fire. On Sunday, Jim and the kids (Trent, the 11 year old, and Val, the 22 year old) left early in the morning to cheer for their favorite team, the Redskins. It was an emotional day for all of them, as they, along with the rest of the crowd, mourned the death of Sean Taylor. So, there's a brief glimpse into life in our home county...small town with easy access to the big city!
