Thanksgiving!

What a beautiful day! We have so much to be thankful for. Jim, Val, Trent and I spent yesterday (Thanksgiving) with our family, here locally. We are fortunate that most of our immediate family (with the exception of Chris) live right here in Prince William County VA. So we are blessed to be able to spend time with both of our moms as well as with my brother, sister in law and our nephew, often. The day was gorgeous (sunny and 70 degrees) much warmer than our typical weather on this holiday. We had spent Wednesday afternoon together in the kitchen doing some precooking and playing Jenga, so on Thursday morning we had time to spend outside winterizing our property. It was so much fun to work together as a team (of course, many hands make light work ) ~ not sure who said that, but it's certainly true!

So, it felt great to come inside, get cleaned up, and head to my brother's house (which is also the home I grew up in) for some delicious cooking, most of which was courtesy of my sister in law! Trent and our nephew had a blast, spent practically the entire time rough housing ~ we couldn't even pull them away for desert! It was such a perfect day! The only thing missing was seeing our eldest son, but we had a pre Thanksgiving meal with him last weekend in North Carolina. He decided to stay in Jacksonville N.C. upon finishing his four year stint overseas with the Marines. We were able to spend time with him, along with Jim's North Carolina family when we visited Carolina Beach for the weekend.

Prince William County Virginia is the best place in the world for us to live. We are so thankful to be here! If you would like more information on our home town, please don't hesitate to contact us: 703.530.1100 or Peggy@BassetteHomes.com

Prince William County Virginia, The Perfect Place For Historical Excursions!

We just spent an absolutely glorious extended weekend in Williamsburg Virginia! Just over two hours away, historical Williamsburg an awesome place for a family getaway! One of the many benefits of living in Prince William County VA is that we are within easy access to so many fantastic historical places! Our son has not only been able to learn about places like Washington DC and Manassas Battlefield in history books at school, but he has had the opportunity to visit these awe inspiring locations!

On Saturday, we got to walk through Jamestown to see how the first settlers to America lived (and died) in this remote location. We also got to board the three ships that brought the pioneers to the shores of Virginia (wow, are they small!) and to watch the Powhatan Indians in their native ragalia as they performed tribal dances. We discovered that the Powhatans still have 2 reservations located in the Commonwealth of Virginia!

On Sunday, we headed to the Historical area of Williamsburg. It was so interesting to see how much progress the settlers had made! The houses and streets were large and interesting. It seemed so much more "civilized" than Jamestown. We watched, as actors in historical garb, reinacted events from the mid 1700's.

We're so fortunate to live in a location that is central to so many interesting historical sites. If you are curious about what it would be like to live and work in Northern Virginia, we would love to have the opportunity to consult with you. Federal Reserve Cuts Interest Rate Again!

The Fed, in an effort to strengthen our economy, cut interest rates yesterday by a 1/4 point! Ben Bernanke, Chairman of the Fed, along with most of his colleagues, agreed to lower the federal funds rate to 4.50 percent. Subsequently, many large commercial banks announced that they were reducing their prime lending rate for, among other things, home equity lines of credit!

The reduction in interest rates, along with our sluggish housing market, make this a perfect time to purchase a home! Our local housing market (Washington DC, metropolitan area) has many houses that are just waiting for the buyer who is interested in increasing their net worth and building wealth through Real Estate. Prices of our local houses have decreased, so now is the time to expect sellers to contribute to closing costs on behalf of astute purchasers.

We, at the Bassette Group, would love to have the opportunity to consult with you and teach you how to take advantage of this awesome buyer's market! Just give us a call at 703.530.1100 or send and email to
